But in the early period of the Federation of Typographer’s union founded 1881, J. Mantel and J. Alary control it. In addition, then the proletarian positivism, of which A. Keufer is an active, is a minor current in the lavour movement in France. For understanding why and how he can take the leadership, it is necessary for us to study the situation of the early period of the Federation. Investigating the journal of the Federation, La Typographie française, from the first number (16 September 1881) to the number 77 (15 December 1884), we follow A.
