| 内容記述 | This paper considers the defending discourses against the crisis of Humanities in contemporary Japanese society. It focuses on the relevance between the usefulness of Humanities and the potential “needs” in those who suffer from angst (ikizurasa). In the first part, it delineates people who are suffering from angst and their features. Those with such features are not defined by sense of belonging. They may be compatible with social norms. They are trapped between individual desire and social norms. Also, they may lack analytical tools to segment and describe their condition or desire. The second part displays three models of Humanities discourses found in Japanese society emphasizing on its “usefulness.” As a conclusion, this paper shall argue that all three available models tend to alienate the people suffering from angst. | |||||||||
