| 内容記述 | This is the first half of the report on the effects of students' motivation on their pro ciency development of English in the faculty of commerce, Chuo University. The faculty has just started a new English curriculum in April, 2019. One of the regular (REG), intensive (INT), and study abroad (SA) courses is required to be taken for the first two years. Required credits and options for freshmen and sophomores are changed in the three courses. Research subjects are freshmen who belong to one INT and two REG classes taught by the investigator. All the freshmen are required to take CASEC, instead of GTEC, for placement in April, and as usual, the TOEIC IP test for part of evaluation at the end of November. According to the results of CASEC and an anonymous motivation questionnaire given to the three classes, students' CASEC scores were directly proportional to the strength of their motivation to learn English. Some tendencies are seen in motivation types according to the levels of their pro ciency. The next issue is how these results will be reflected in their scores of the TOEIC IP test several months later, as argued in Kinoshita (2017, 2018). That will be clari ed in the second half of the report. |
