| 内容記述 | Since naturalism appeared in the Japanese literary scene early in the 20th century, confession literature became the mainstream of Japanese literature for a long time. For novelists who advocated naturalism, the purpose of literature was to expose the indecent realities of human nature and confession was the mean to achieve the purpose. In reality, novelists held new values, and their confession novels actually expressed their dissent to Confucian thinking which was predominant in the first half of 20th century. In 1920ʼs popular novelists began to write love stories based on their new values. The important point of the new value was gender equality and love marriage, which built the foundation to accept democratization in the postwar period. | |||||||||
