| 内容記述 | Domestic violence, or intimate partner violence, has been recognized as a serious public health problem worldwide. Not only it has long-term physical and mental health consequences for the victims, but also it burdens society with huge costs. Advocacy has potential to improve outcomes after domestic violence. This paper conducted two surveys in order to document and test the effects of accompaniment advocacy work in Tokyo. One survey was conducted for victims of domestic violence, and the other for service providers. The results of the first survey showed that more than 90％ of the victim respondents answered they felt supported by the accompaniment advocacy in terms of reducing anxiety, promoting communication, and taking care of their children when they had to visit various service providers. The results of the second survey showed that all the service providers, such as local governments, health care providers, law firms and courts, answered accompaniment advocacy is necessary. Statistically significant differences were found between the cases accompanied with advocates and cases without, in regard to efficiency and accuracy of communication as well as victims’ safety on the way to and from the service providers. | |||||||||
