Many scholars have analyzed voter turnout and/or the results of these referendums. In this paper, I reanalyze referendums held before March 2005 building upon analyses by Sunahara (2018). I find that turnout tends to be lower in referendums held without adequate time to inform voters of the referendum and the options on the ballot. I also find that referendums that offer voters more options reduce turnout. These findings suggest that referendums should be designed to ensure that voters are well-informed and understand the implications of each of their options.}, pages = {89--111}, title = {住民投票の実施形態と投票率・得票率―「平成の大合併」をめぐる事例の分析をもとに―}, volume = {24}, year = {2020}, yomi = {シオザワ, ケンイチ} }
