After World War II, there was a movement to protect historical documents in the private sector. As a result, at the request of historians, the Shiryo-kan was established as a facility to protect and utilize historical documents. The outline of the histor y of the establishment, organization and functions of the Shiryo-kan has already been clarified. On the other hand, research on the practice of arrangement of historical documents, which was carried out at the Shiryo-kan has not been advanced. However, the practice has had a great influence on the arrangement of historical documents in postwar Japan. Therefore, it is an issue that must be pursued. In this article, I would like to introduce the office diary to help advance the research of the history of the Shiryo-kan.
