内容記述 | Eiichi Shibusawa’s "Gappon-ism(合本主義)" is being reconsidered as a solution to the challenges of global capitalism.Gappon-ism refers to "the idea of promoting Business by bringing together the human resources and capital best suited to achieve the mission and objective of pursuing the common good. On the other hand, Yukichi Fukuzawa is thought to have translated the English word "Business" into the Japanese word "Jigyo (Business)", which means "to do things. In his book "Gakumon no Susume (Encouragement of Learning)," Fukuzawa wrote, "If you study and do things (do Business), you can be independent and self-respecting. In contrast to Fukuzawa Yukichi’s concept of "Business," it was Shibusawa Eiichi who argued that in order to conduct a Business, one should harmonize the Analects of Confucius with the arithmetic. He also referred to the words of Confucius, who said that true learning is the "Essence of Practical Application(實地應用ノ素)". In contrast to the concept of "Business," Eiichi Shibusawa believed that in order to conduct a Business, the "Analects" and the "Arithmetic" should be in harmony with each other. The "Practical Application(實地應用)" of Shibusawa is thought to refer to "Jigyo(事業)" in the sense of Business. He also said that the essence of Confucius’ Confucian spirit is that learning is the realization of morality (righteousness) through economics (profit). The "practical application" can be interpreted as Shibusawa’s borrowing of Confucius’ words to infuse Fukuzawa’s Western philosophy of "Study and do Business" with Japanese moral values. The harmony of "Analects" and "Arithmetic" in Shibusawa’s concept of "Business" is derived from Sontoku Ninomiya’s idea of "Keisei Saimin(経世済民)," which states that "morality without economy is a lie, and economy without morality is a crime. This is the origin of Japanese management as a theory of knowledge creation, in which "learning (knowledge)" is not owned by individual managers for their own benefit, but is shared widely in society and new value is acquired by society. By clarifying this term, we will discuss how "Gappon-ism" encompasses the sharing of "learning (knowledge)" in society. This is to show that this is the origin of modern Japanese management, which is oriented toward the creation of new knowledge by sharing knowledge with society and organizations. We will also attempt to clarify that the "Practical Wisdom(実践知)" of Nonaka et al. is what Shibusawa refers to as "the Elements of Practical Application. By clarifying this relationship, we will show that Gappon-ism is an ideology that not only gathers capital and human resources, but also creates capital and human resources from Business, and creates new innovation by sharing Practical Wisdom in society. | |||||||||
