内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 In alpine ski racing, it is very important to have image of course setting. Racers are allowed to inspect
the course prior to the competition, but practice on the race course is not allowed except for the Downhill
race. So, it is considered that information from the course inspection has relatively higher impact on the
race strategy for technical events rather than Downhill event. Also, it is very important for racers to go
through mental rehearsal well before the start with gathered information from course inspection.
In this study four female elite to semi elite college ski racers were interviewed with semi-structured
interview method. Transcriptions of interviews were analyzed by using “Steps for Cording and
Theorization” method (SCAT).
In setting the course for an Alpine skiing competition, the following three elements are particularly
important in determining the difficulty of the competition and influencing the results: changes in slope
affected by the terrain, the choice of travel lines according to the terrain and gate setting conditions, and
changes in the rhythm of turns created by the gate restrictions.
The course inspection strategy is to collect the information necessary to select appropriate turning
movements according to course conditions and to provide specific considerations about course conditions
to avoid the mistakes. It involves specifics such as movement, rational turning movements in accordance
with slope changes to create a smooth travel line, selection and utilization of tactics for line keeping,
selection and utilization of tactics for rhythm changes, movement timing, ski manipulation and reaction
from the skis, rational turns in accordance with speed, etc. related to execution and strategy are included.
The mistakes are more likely to occur in alpine skiing competitions, where eliminating deceleration
factors as much as possible and minimizing mistakes leads to better results. It is important to be aware
of areas that require special attention, such as rhythm changes and slope changes.
When formulating an overall strategy, the skier first checks the course conditions based on visual information,
and then uses that information to imagine how to trace an ideal line. When recalling an image of
tracing a line, it can be said that a person also recalls a specific image of a turn that takes into account
their own experience and ability. In addition, in terms of mental rehearsal imagery is centered on distant
external focus, and the first-person visual images play a central role.
