| 内容記述 | First arising as a result of the struggle against slavery and the slave trades, and then against colonisation, pan-Africanism was an attempt to construct an alternative image of Africa, as opposed to that of an Other to be subdued. This study focuses on two figures that contributed to the evolution of this image of Africa. They are Adelaide Smith Casely-Hayford (1868-1960), founder of a Girls’ Vocational School in Freetown, and Jacqueline Ki-Zerbo (1933-2015), née Coulibaly, who became the director of the Normal School for young women at Conakry. Having emerged themselves from pan-African networks, they tried to put their pan- African ideas into practice through the education of their female students. Their careers and ideas deserve to be studied from the angle of the construction of a new African identity, in the context of the development of feminism and the approach of decolonisation. The innovative ideas and singular trajectories of these two elite African women are particularly significant for the study of intersectionality: the relationship between race and gender domination. Their history, as actors, individuals, intellectuals, and progressives, breaks down the double image of Africa/Woman: the image of an undifferentiated mass that was the object of desire and domination. | |||||||||
