| 内容記述 | Koreans who were no longer able to live in farming villages left there and wandered under Japanese colonial rule in Korea, and many of them died of starvation and disease during this process. According to the official gazette of government-general of Korea, over 7000 died on journey in the serious drought of 1939. Most of them were identified as Koreans from their clothing and hairstyles. It was considered that the number of wandered deaths was decreased under the period of labor shortage during World War II. However, its evidence was not investigated. This article focuses on the case of “Keijo”, the largest city of Korea and reveals the reality of the wandered deaths under General Nobuyuki Abe administration (from July 1944 to August 1945). The article classified data by gender, age, the cause of deaths, and the place of deaths, and these data are collected from the official gazettes. The result reveals that the number of wandered deaths did not decrease even in this period which labors were shorthanded due to the war. Rather, it shows that people continued leaving farming villages during this period. The conclusion discloses the continuation of poverty in the farming villages in Korea caused by the labor shortage in 1944 when the government mobilized the highest number of Korean farmers to Japan. | |||||||||||
