The participant was 11 years and 1 month old at the beginning of the study. He exhibited a range of challenging behaviors, including physical and verbal aggression, selfinjurious behavior, eloping from the classroom, engaging in activities unrelated to academic tasks, refusing to enter the classroom, and noncompliance with academic assignments. To address these behaviors, writing letters in a notebook during class was selected as an incompatible behavior for these problem behaviors, and the parents implemented a DRI procedure at home. The results showed that an increase in letter writing, coupled with a noteworthy decrease in problem behaviors in school subjects where parents implemented DRI-based interventions.
