| 内容記述 | China has been advocating the slogan “Kyu Dao Chao Cars (弯道超車),” or “Overtaking at the Curve,” for its various industries. The “kyphosis supercar” is an idea first put forth by Baidu Chairman Li Xionghong in 2009, who said, “In the financial crisis, China’s economy has reached a ‘curve,’ but this is truly an opportunity to realize leapfrog development and overtake rivals” (Qian, 2019). It is believed that Chinese companies are strong on the curve because they are strong in open innovation, which is the way of innovation in the age of digital transformation. The purpose of this study is to clarify why Chinese firms are strong in open innovation by analyzing the management of Huawei, which is strong in open innovation. We will then consider some aspects of Chinese management that is strong in open innovation. Chinese-style management can be seen as a strength that Chinese companies have sought in order to compete with strong global competitors. In other words, Chinese firms have sometimes found solutions to management problems that Western and Japanese firms have been unable to solve by drawing on traditional Chinese thought to enhance their competitiveness (Shen and Nomakuchi, 2022). Open innovation comes from the platform leadership taken by U.S. IT firms, and this paper examines how Huawei overcomes and combines the conflicting situations of U.S.-style management and Japanese-style management from the wisdom of Chinese classics. | |||||||||||||
