| 内容記述 | This article records an interview with Michihiro Ishibashi, a member of the House of Councillors, who conducted inspections at the Thailand-Myanmar border in August 2022 and August 2023 to assess the local refugee situation and support mechanisms. Ishibashi expressed concerns about UN aid preferentially reaching military-controlled areas and emphasized the need for support through the National Unity Government (NUG) and ethnic minority groups. He met with NUG ministers and the Japanese Embassy in Bangkok to discuss the situation and advocate for expanded third-country resettlement and cross-border support, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has yet to approve. Ishibashi also engaged with Thailand’ s Move Forward Party regarding refugee support and educational aid. As secretary-general of the Diet Members Caucus to Support Democracy in Myanmar, he organized a meeting on February 1, 2024, to discuss restoring democracy in Myanmar, featuring NUG’ s minister. Ishibashi plans to continue his support efforts and calls for concrete actions from the Japanese government. | |||||||||||||||||
