Teikei is a solidarity-based partnership between consumers and organic farmers aimed at the direct distribution of organic products. Using a case study approach, this research focuses on Shokuhin-Kougai wo Tsuihoushi Anzenna Tabemono wo Motomerukai, a teikei consumer organization located in Kobe. Data for this study were collected through methods, including analysis of the organization’s documents, interviews, and observations. The study describes the meso level with micro level practices of teikei and identifies a civic free space as playing a critical role in the organization’s inception. The principles guiding teikei practices also shaped the organization’s daily activities.
