| 内容記述 | This paper examines the theory of degrowth, which has been put forward as an alternative to the problematic concept of sustainable development in recent years, from the viewpoint of the protection and promotion of cultural diversity. Based on the abovementioned perspective, the paper argues that the mode of thinking underlying degrowth theories often becomes linear and monolithic, and, contrary to common assumptions, may fail to adequately account for diverse cultural backgrounds and values. In response to this concern, the paper will focus on the concept of “sustainable cultural development” as a way of overcoming the limitations of such degrowth theories, and discuss the possibility of continuing to pursue sustainable development rather than degrowth while respecting cultural diversity. | |||||||||||
