| 内容記述 | Currently, the increase in the percentage of women entering four-year colleges and universities extends to women as well, as can be seen in the increase in the number of women entering social science and science departments other than those in the humanities. This is a characteristic of women’s advancement in society. However, it has taken many years to reach this point. It was not until after World War II that the doors of university entrance were opened to women in Japan. Of course, there were a few universities that allowed women to enter before World War II, but for most universities, women’s admission was systematically guaranteed in the context of postwar educational reforms. The purpose of this paper is to describe the situation of female students from the 1950s to the 1960s, when Chuo University was still in its infancy. The analysis focuses on Chuo University, which was located in the Surugadai area during this period. In the previous two papers, the author focused on women’s student associations as student clubs, examining their activities and organizational management, as well as the thoughts of their members. In the following article, I leave the framework of a student circle and examine the image of female students at that time. The title of this paper, “female students searching for a way forward,” is a simple expression of the female students who were searching for their own way forward among the majority of male students. |
