| 内容記述 | This research note describes how China’s One Belt One Road policy has affected the local community in Kazakhstan, using the information we have acquired during our fieldwork conducted in two cities in 2024. Starting in 2013, China’s One Belt One Road policy has brought in a new form of exchange between China and neighboring countries, such as establishing new firms and plants and an influx of Chinese people in the target countries. Through this process, it has also affected the life of people in the target countries by increasing the amount of interaction between Chinese people and the local residents. In 2024, we set our research sites in Astana and Almaty, two largest cities in Kazakhstan, to conduct interviews with the local residents. To confirm our research findings in previous years,（ 1） we find significant a amount of impact of the presence of Chinese workers on the life and perceptions of Kazakhstan city workers. This impact appears to have been formed through the interactions between Chinese workers and Kazakhstan workers in work environments. Interestingly, （2） we find substantially different perceptions of Kazakhstan city workers on the presence of Chinese workers, as compared with those of Kazakhstan workers living in rural villages. | |||||||||||
