| 内容記述 | This research explores how local communities can proactively adapt and transform amid major social change. Focusing on Jarkent, Kazakhstan—shaped by Russian rule and China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative—I examine how residents respond to external forces and pursue autonomous development. Using Kazuko Tsurumi’s “Theory of Endogenous Development” as a framework, I analyze local strategies for utilizing intrinsic resources and networks. I emphasize the concepts of “recognition of limitations” and “ingenuity” to explore creative responses. Fieldwork and interviews with nine residents inform our comparative analysis of conditions enabling endogenous development. Ultimately, I aim to present theoretical and empirical insights applicable to other regions, including Japan. | |||||||||||
