| 内容記述 | This study examines methods for maintaining students’ motivation and training them in academic writing in the first-year seminar, “Basic Exercises,” which they participate in after entering Faculty of Global Informatics, Chuo University. The study was conducted from 2019 to 2024 and the following steps were implemented: 1) Students created videos for their video production exercises and shared them on YouTube. 2) After the video production, they documented their insights and reflections on the experience. 3) To examine their insights on their experience, their reflections were analyzed using text mining. 4) Students discussed their insights and classified them using the KJ method. 5) A t-test was used to analyze how their insights had changed before and after the video production practice, and whether the differences were statistically significant. 6) Finally, students wrote a report in the order: statement of problem, objective, method, results and discussion, conclusion, and references. The video production practice successfully maintained students’ motivation throughout the seminar. Additionally, the number of reports produced was higher than expected. Many students’ reflections included statements such as “practical exercises are better than lectures,” “team cohesion was strengthened,” and “video production is difficult but enjoyable.” Thus, the introduction of video production and distribution on YouTube in Basic Exercises has proven effective. |
