| 内容記述 | In the Uyghur society in southern Xinjiang under the Qing dynasty’s rule, the Qing government appointed Uyghur beg officials and administration was carried out by them under the supervision of Qing dynasty bureaucrats. Among them, hākim beg (local governor), a highest ranking beg official in each oasis city, exercised administrative power backed by the political authority and military power of the Qing dynasty, while also acting as a ruler who maintained Muslim society. This study throws light on the real character of the beg officials by revealing the specific aspects of the achievements of Zuhūr al-Dīn, who served as hākim beg in Kashgar from 1831 to 1847, from various perspectives. Zuhūr al-Dīn maintained a stable social situation in Kashgar during the period when the invasions of Makhdūmzāda khwājas ceased. He is known for carrying out an expansion project of the city of Kashgar and active agricultural development in line with the policies of the Qing dynasty. Such actions were intended to improve urban infrastructure and strengthen the region’s economic base. He also built a new madrasa, donated vast amounts of land as a waqf for it, and supported Uyghur writers and intellectuals, ultimately encouraging them to create literary works based on a common cultural foundation with Central Asia. These policies in Uyghur society were supported by the strengthening of the economic base through the aforementioned development projects. |
