| 内容記述 | Generative AI is considered useful for autonomous learning, and much research is investigating how to incorporate it to improve learners’ writing (Kanamaru 2023; Yang & Li 2024). How do learners use generative AI for their own learning? This paper aims to conduct action research on integrating generative AI in English out-of-school autonomous learning and its relationship with proficiency, and to improve the current autonomous learning program. Based on the reflection notes written by learners, we found the categories such as computer use, software application, blind use of AI, interest in English writing itself, difficulty of writing, revision, use in informal situations, collaborative learning, teacher control, learner self-control, and materials. Especially for the use of generative AI, we found that learners’ actual use includes brainstorming, revision, critical awareness, feedback, teacher support, reception, application, blind use of AI. We also found striking characteristics of learners. These include implicit use of generative AI, use of generative AI as scaffolding or augmentation, cheating, teacher control, and connection to lifelong learning. The question of how to integrate the use of generative AI into the four general skills is another area for improvement. | |||||||||||
