| 内容記述 | This paper surveys empirical research on the relationship between financial education and financial literacy, aiming to provide a foundation for future studies and policy design in Japan. The review first examines international evidence, which employs randomized controlled trials, quasi-experimental designs, and large-scale survey analyses. These studies generally report that financial education improves literacy by small to moderate magnitudes, but the effects vary depending on program intensity, instructional methods, and socio-economic or cultural context, and they often diminish over time. Recent meta-analyses reinforce these findings by confirming positive yet heterogeneous impacts. Japanese research, though more limited in scope, has steadily accumulated in recent years. Intervention-based studies at schools and universities show significant short-term improvements in basic financial concepts, while analyses using nationwide survey data indicate positive associations between education experience and literacy scores. Evidence also reveals systematic differences by gender, age, and academic ability. The survey highlights that, although Japan has produced valuable insights regarding attribute-based differences, important gaps remain. In particular, little is known about the long-term sustainability of education effects, the relative effectiveness of alternative teaching methods, and the use of advanced measurement tools such as item response theory. Addressing these gaps is essential for accurately assessing the effectiveness of financial education in Japan. | |||||||||||
