| 内容記述 | This is an interim report of the following-up studies of the preceding work having been conducted as a time-series studies of the small towns in post-Communist Slovakia by a research team of the Institute of Social Sciences at Chuo University. This research focuses on the dynamics of local life under globalization. The cases to be studied are two small cities in central Slovakia and one middle-sized city in eastern Slovakia, located far from the highly developed western part. Main findings are as follows. Firstly, rich-poor differentiation is still going on, and those who attached themselves to “Upper-middle class” have decreased, while those of “Lower-middle class” have increased. Generally, working life has been deteriorated, particularly in wage and job security, under the influence of a recession of global economy. Secondly, despite of the deterioration of economic life, people’s participation in cultural life has increased to a significant extent, particularly in the events connected with global culture. Thirdly, people’s concern in community activities is found mainly in the field of narrow neighborhood affairs and cultural affairs, but does not extend to the public affairs such as local development, environmental protection and public order. Depoliticization is clearly visible in inhabitant’s attitudes. |
