| 内容記述 | I explore the details of the particular Catholic marriage held in 1999 in Kottar Diocese, which follows the Latin rite in South India. Kottar Diocese is one of the local Catholic Churches which follows both the religious law and doctrine of the Catholic Church. Hence the celebration of Marriage during Mass in Kottar Dioces is also conducted as one of sacraments. For the celebration of Marriage during Mass, the couple needs to follow the particular procedure prescribed by the Church regardless of their caste, economic condition, or family back ground. I describe the detail of the particular marriage celebration. The celebration of Marriage during Mass was held at the church. At the same time there were many events based on the local culture and tradition. The Church was not involved in those events. Many of those events are observed even among Hindus. The local people spend more, energy, time and money for secular events. There are interdependence and the division of roles between the Church and the faithful as well as segregation and tension between the Church and the local culture. Marriage has both the religious and social aspects among Catholics in South India. |
