Three different systems were studied: Japanese, Chinese, and bumiputera or Malay. Findings of this research are summarized as follows. Firstly, the bumiputera entrepreneurs and enterprises receive government support and implement many aspects of indigenous Malay and Muslim culture. Secondly, Chinese-Malaysian enterprises are very modern in their outlook, employ and emulate representative management practices of the West, and actively look to M&A and other ways of collaborating with MNCs from developed countries. Thirdly, subsidiaries of Japanese MNCs employ aspects of Japanese HRM to a wide degree.
