| 内容記述 | In this paper, I will study a joint venture project between a religious organisation – a diocese of Thuckalay and a private company – V-Star Creations Private Limited (V-Star Creations), which is operated in Tamil Nadu in South India. I will especially focus on the religious commitment in the operation of this joint venture. I researched Angel Garments, a joint venture project, which is engaged in the production of ready-made garments in February and March 2015. On the 10th March in 2011, Angel Garments was established out as one of three income-generating units under Kanyakumari Social Service Society (the KKSSS) in the church compound of Palukal parish, the diocese of Thuckalay. With respect to the establishment of Angel Garments, I cannot start its story without mentioning the commitment of a certain missionary, Fr. Mathew Plathottam M.S.T, who devoted his life to caring the poor in Tamil Nadu. Fr. Mathew appealed to the KKSSS about the hardships of his parishioners and their small scale businesses in his parish. Finally, the KKSSS took action to find a way out of the difficulties and approached V-Star Creations, which was famous for a charitable joint venture with which it had been involved. Upon the establishment of Angel Garments, the diocese of Thuckalay appointed the parish priest of Palukal as a unit director, and a religious nun as a sister-in-charge.Angel Garments is now the most successful unit under the KKSSS. In the case of this business, the operation does not work well without the deep involvement of religious staff, including both a priest and nuns. |
