We first report some findings from our project titled “Sociological Explorations on Living Knowledge for a Planetary Society”. Second, we address an analytical framework with holistic approach, derived by Fernand Braudelʼs study on the micro-macro linkages of socio-cultural process. Third, our results show that the recent states of emergency declared by the Italian and Japanese governments with respect to their borders have created a favorable public attitude toward increasing national security. Meanwhile, local inhabitants and activists have witnessed the obscure process of “militarization of everyday life” at the local and national levels.
