| 内容記述 | In 1889, Terada Yukichi （1853―1921） visited 13 countries in Europe and America for inspection of education as a bureaucrat in the Ministry of Education. Based on this inspection, he started to establish the theory of physical education that aim to construct Japanese modern state from a point of view of the relationship between the people and national strength. He compared the Japanese education status with the global standard, and extracted issues and solutions. After that, he conducted awareness campaigns through his lecture and writing. He enlightened the wide range of people such as politicians, government bureaucrats, educators, researchers, housewives, through some organizations with a large membership and various magazines which have a large circulation. His campaign had been influencing on people for a long time, because the issue was appropriate, and the reform theory was concrete and suitable for Japanese. In conclusion, his activities are estimated as great significance with the important meaning in development of physical education in the pioneer days in this study. |
