| 内容記述 | Yasuda Yojuro was a famous literary critic. He was the leading figure of Japanese Romantic School and he wrote numerous essays on many magazines during WWII. His essays were expressed with tone of presentiment of ruin, so they may stimulate anti-war sentiment instead of raising morale. Nevertheless, Yasuda had many enthusiastic young admirers. The reason is that it meant death for young men going to war. In Japanese traditional culture, it was a virtue for a warrior to have no fear for death. People preferred to praise those who were stuck with misfortune against the wise person who of resourceful mind who musters the courage to confront enemy. Young readers received Yasuda’s essays as a guide for meeting their death calmly. | |||||||||
