| 内容記述 | Film is a medium that reflects the era during which it is produced and the circumstances of the country in which it is produced. Thus, film is not only artwork, it is a mirror that reflects society. Since India’s open economy in 1991, a new genre has emerged that sets itself apart from mainstream cinema with its universal, sober theme. This new genre is referred to as the new middle class subject in Indian Cinema, because the worldview it presents overlaps with the interests of the new middle class that emerged due to the economic policy. The purpose of this article is to examine the new middle class subject in Indian Cinema as depicted in the film “The Lunchbox” (2013) and the factors of the film’s commercial success at home and abroad, and analyze some aspects of social change in India. | |||||||
