| 内容記述 | This article aims to explore a process of constructing “we”-consciousness as collective identity among the Istrian exiles in Trieste, Italy, especially with using the case of on the “Remembrance Day”. First, I review the two concepts of collective identity (Melucci 1989, 1996) and frontier (Furuki 2010) in order to focus on dual aspects of networks that develop among the exiles and particular issues within the border regions of Italy, Slovene and Croatia. Second, I describe and analyze the procedure of commemorative events organized by the groups of following opposite networks, which I term “national block” and “transnational network”. This leads into a discussion that, while the groups of “national block” try to produce a community-consciousness among the exiles and the Italian people through nationalistic ritual performance and victimization of exiles, those of “transnational network” attempt to represent their community as transnational and regional. The latter groups publish some books about an unknown tragic event occurred in this border region and hold a moderate memorial meeting. They collaborate with historians, Italian minority associations in Croatia, and local authorities beyond the nations and borders so as to produce new sense of ‘living together’. | |||||||||
